Without a doubt, the year 2022 has so far brought lots of smiles to the faces of many and at the same time, it has also witnessed lots of tragic events. Meanwhile, amidst these tragic events, the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) has so far lost some of its finest personalities.
So take a look at some popular Nollywood Stars who have lost their lives in 2022 and what happened to them.
The popular Nigerian and Nollywood veteran actor, Gbenga Richards is the latest Nigerian actor to join this list. The actor is well remembered as an iconic figure who reached his peak in the 1900s and early 2000s.
However, the actor had reportedly been suffering from diabetes and other related illnesses. Meanwhile, following the actor's demise on Thursday (12th May), the cause of his illness has not yet been revealed.

• David Osagie:
Prior to the death of Gbenga Richards, the popular actor, David Osagie was the latest Nollywood actor to lose his life. However, unlike some of his colleagues who had lost their life due to illnesses, David Osagie was reportedly not ill before his demise.
Meanwhile, the popular actor lost his life in a hotel room after a movie shoot.
• Chinedu Nwadike:
The death of Chinedu Nwadike was no doubt one of the biggest news in Nigeria at the time the incident happened. The popular actor and singer was said to have died in March due to blood cancer.
• Romania Amuta:
At the age of 79 years, the popular Nollywood veteran actor, Romania Amuta lost his life in February. The well-known and talented actor was said to have lost his life due to a protracted sickness.

Last but not least is the popular Nollywood actress, Chinedu Bernard. The actress sadly passed away in April after she was said to have slumped while cleaning a church.
