See the Longest Serving Head of State That Have Ruled For 67 Years

Just as the saying goes, some achieve greatness, some are bestowed with greatness while others are born great.

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is one of those; born with silver spoon into a family of affluence and royalty.

She was trained to be royal ever since she was born hence she grew up knowing that she will take over the highly esteemed British throne.

Born with an only sister, Alexandria, her majesty, Elizabeth Mary Alexander, was born into the family of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at Mayfair, London on 21 April, 1926.

She was named heir apparent to the throne hence when her father died in 1952, she ascended the throne as Queen Elizabeth II of England on 02 June 1953.

Her younger sister who happen to be her only sibling, Princess Margaret, is the Countess of Snowdon.

As Queen, she operates as a constitutional monarch and also heads the Commonwealth of Nations; an organization that comprises countries that was colonized by Britain as well as countries with business ties with Britain.

At present, the Commonwealth is made up 54 member states.

Queen Elizabeth is the longest serving head of state of Great Britain and the United kingdom for 67 years now.

She has been in power from 1953 till date and is married to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The couple gave birth to Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

They live in the British Royal Home, Bukingham Palace.
