We all derive joy in listening to Nigerian female musicians and eagerly wait for their new songs as they all are talented and famous.
1. Tiwa Savage
Tiwatope Savage known professionally as Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. She is currently 40 years old. She began her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige.
After participating in the UK edition of The X Factor and graduating from Berklee College of Music, Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music. Inspired by the growth of the Nigerian music industry, Savage moved back to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records. Her first hit that welcomed her into the game was “kele kele love” and it was able to scale through to Nigeria music charts. She made an appearance on the label's compilation album Solar Plexus.
Tiwa Savage is not just a good singer with an incredible voice, but also a professional song writer. She has also collaborated with many artiste which include Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, and Di’ja. Major hits like “Eminado” and “Love Me” has improved not only her bank account but also her music career. Tiwa has been present in a number of international shows and is brand ambassador to a number of companies, like Konga, Pepsi, Forte Oil and Maggi. She is said to be the richest female musician in Nigeria.
2. Yemi Alade
Yemi Eberechi Alade, known professionally as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter she is 31 years of age. She won the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and had a hit with her single " Johnny ". Her father was a police commissioner of Yoruba descent, while her mother is of Igbo descent.
She is one Nigerian artist that has managed to build a huge fan base on YouTube as she gets million of views on her music video. She has also released some dope tracks like “kissing”, Take over,Tangerine. She won many awards which include ELOY Award and has also won the best Female Award at the MTV African Music Awards.
Yemi Alade is a brand ambassador for some big Nigerian companies such as CloseUp Toothpaste, an Online Jewelry store, Bland2Glam, Barcadi Breezer and owns a jewelry line called Yemi Alade collections.
Omawumi’s birth name is Omawumi Megbele she is currently 38 years old, she is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and actress of Itsekiri ethnicity.
She is a brand ambassador for Globacom, Konga.com, and Malta Guinness. She's also part of the campaign called "Rise with the Energy of Africa". Omawumi started her singing career in 2007 after she was voted as the 1st runner-up for Idol West Africa Competition. Her music career got a big boost from her very first single titled “In the Music”, although she has also released other songs.
Her second album, The Lasso of Truth, was reported to be a commercial success in Nigeria. She is one artiste who dropped her law certificate for music and shot to limelight with her performance in reality show West African Idols.
4. Chidinma Ekile
Chidinma Ekile, known professionally as Chidinma or better still "miss Kedik" 29 years old. She is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.
Her fame began after she won the third season of the MTN Project Fame West Africa in 2010, thereafter she released her singles “Jankoliko”and “kedike”.
Following the release of the music video for her "Emi Ni Baller" single, she became the first female musician to peak at number 1 on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart. Chidinma won Best Female West African Act at the 2012 Kora Awards and performed "Kedike" at the ceremony. It turns out she has signed in multi million deal with MTN.
5. Seyi Shay
Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua (born Oluwaseyi Odedere) and 35 of age, professionally known as Seyi Shay is raised in London. She is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress Seyi Shay returned from UK to Nigeria in 2011 before releasing the two hit songs “Loving your way” and “No le le” and in 2013, she released “Irawo”,”chante” etc.
The talented musician has written three songs for the soundtrack to Konami’s video game.
She has signed many endorsement deals with Etisalat, Bacardi Breezer, and the most recent deal with Pepsi and is also one of the ambassadors of the phone brand – Gionee.
