Mo Bimpe - Why I Disagree With Using Scandals And Controversies To Gain Popularity

Many in the Nigerian entertainment industry believed using controversies to become more popular isn't bad after all, but Mo Bimpe, in an interview has said that 'bad publicity is bad', hence revealed why she disagrees with such orientation.

The actress, whose real name is Adebimpe Oyebade while referring to a common saying that 'for a public figure, no publicity is bad' expressed her displeasure by saying, "I don’t agree with claims that any publicity is good for a public figure.’'

Adebimpe who has produced four movies which include: Dear Sister, Jade’s CrossEntrapped, and A Day to Remember, said scandals or controversies do not make actors become more popular.

She said, “I don’t think scandals or controversies make an actor more popular, because bad publicity is bad."

Revealing why she won't subscribe to using scandals or controversies as a tool for popularity. The actress said, "I don’t need controversies again as I feel that my career can give me enough publicity."

Mo who mentioned her upbringing as one of the reasons she won't subscribe to popularity via bad publicity added that she hates bad names, but loves to be identified by her talents and work.

In the words of 'Eyimofe' star actress, "I don’t like having a bad name, I just want people to keep identifying me for my talents and work."

The twenty-four-year-old Ekiti-born actress said, though, bad publicity works for some of her colleagues, noting that some actors don't even feature in movies again, yet, have become more popular on social media. She opined that there exist negative repercussions for such fame.

Oyebade concluded that it is not as if she is unperturbed about certain issues or news, but she hates controversies, the reason she stayed off meddling in viral issues or granting interviews.

She said, “I just don’t like drama and I try my best to stay far from it."
