It is gladdening that famous gospel singer, Tope Alabi, has deemed it fit to offer an apology over her statement condemning a popular gospel song titled: "Oniduro", recently. As a matter of fact, her lengthy apology which popped up on social media a while ago has restored a good portion of her goodwill that went away with the video of the event where she made the gaffe of criticising another artiste's song when she was supposed to be concentrating on her own awaited performance.

And it also good that she made it silently clear that it was the human factor in her that led to the unwarranted statement and not "holy spirit" like she mentioned in the video. "I’m not a perfect person yet, I’m still a work in progress in the hands of God. I want people to see me as a mere mortal with my own weaknesses, human frailties and as a learner in the limitless knowledge of God." She said.

Though, in what seemed like twixt in another paragraph of the statement containing her apology, she still made a remark that suggested she still wanted to attribute her gaffe to God. "Let me acknowledge that my mistake was that I externalised a personal message in public; and I’m awfully sorry for doing that," she said without actually stating from whom the personal message came to her from. But the most important thing is that, she has said she is sorry which is quite humbling.

Meanwhile, it would be suggested by this writer that, after Tope Alabi's apology, she should endeavour to do one other thing to cap it up. And that is to do a joint track with whoever the real owner of the song between Adeyinka Adesioye a.k.a Alaseyori, and Tolu Adelegan. And the same "Oniduro" song should be the song to be remixed in the track. Let the world hear Tope Alabi sing the song while adding her own fresh lines to it, after all the hullaballoo that her comment generated has put her in bad light.

If that happens, Tope Alabi would not only gain back the unconditional love of her already hurt fans in manifolds, she would also win new fans from all quarters amongst music lovers globally.
