Oluwadamilare Okulaja, also known as Durella (King of the Zanga), is a Nigerian recording artist, performer, songwriter and businessman. He is known for his singles, "Enu Ose", "Shayo", "Wizkolo Wiska", "Club Rock" and "GaGa". He is the first Nigerian artist to own a shoe line: Durella Sneakers, named after his popular slogan "2Gbaski".
Durella won his way into the hearts of many, with his slangs, charisma and energic dance moves. One unique attribute about Durella is, you can sense the energy and passion in his voice when he sings, he easily connect to his audience by using slangs and slogans that are home to the street. His lyrics are easily understood and can relate with his audience. He has a library of songs for party, inspiration, gyrations and cool entertainment......Durella has it all and he is capable of so much more in pop music.
For quite some time now, Durella has not been on the big screen, neither has he been sighted on any social occasion. On the 17th November 2018, an article was published in The Guardian Newspaper about him; his rise to fame and challenges he struggled with: there were allegations of alcohol abuse, womanizing, rumours of a fallout with his record label and his handlers consistently dropping the ball with his hits singles. Perhaps, the challenges got the better part of him and he lost focus for a while.
However, Durella shocked his fans when he came out of his shell, to release a hit banger featuring Ice Prince, which he titles "Shalaye". He went on to drop another single; On My Mind. Durella is due for a comeback and he has proven to his fans that he still has alot to offer, but the question is, will he still be able to retain his throne which he abdicated for so long? Although, since he left, no artiste has close to competing with him, which is an added advantage to him.
Will the King of the Zanga still be able to awe fans with his hyper-sexualized, super-energetic performance?
