4 Times Pasuma And Osupa Have Used Different Titles To Tackle Each Other As Fuji Stars

Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Odetola popularly known as Pasuma and King (Dr.) Saheed Akorede Okunola simply known as Saheed Osupa, are two of the shinning stars in the Fuji music industry in Nigeria. In fact, after the King of Fuji, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe Marshal better known as K1, both Pasuma and Saheed Osupa are, arguably, the ones controlling majority of the Fuji music fans today. Because, if you ask any fan of Fuji music who their favourite artiste is, if they don't say it is K1, it would likely be Pasuma or Saheed Osupa.

And, one very interesting thing about Pasuma and Saheed Osupa is that, they have been rivals in the industry from the early stage of their flourishing careers. They have always seen each other as a competition in the industry such that, if one does something, the other wants to do something better. An interesting example of such competition was what Saheed Osupa said in one of his songs some years ago that, he wanted to buy a particular brand of a car from abroad, and he was immediately informed that Pasuma had just bought same brand of car; so he told his dealer to change his own brand of car to something higher than what Pasuma bought.

But, beyond material things, one other thing that both Pasuma and Saheed Osupa have variously used as their tool of rivalry or competition as Fuji music stars, has been different titles they have adopted. And, at least, there has been 4 times that they have used different titles to tackle each other. The first time was when K1 had just been given the title of the King of Fuji by a group, while Pasuma and Saheed Osupa were both given the title of Crown Prince of Fuji, accordingly. But, what did Pasuma do afterwards? He decided to add "Original" to his own title of Crown Prince of Fuji.

So, on the jacket of their albums back then, when Saheed Osupa would write Crown Prince of Fuji as his title, Pasuma on the other hand would go ahead to write Original Crown Prince of Fuji, just to show to their respective fans that his own title was bigger. Quite interesting. And, that remained the situation of the rivalry between them until few years after when Pasuma approached K1 that he wanted to be given the title of "Otunba K1". The implication of the title was that, Pasuma would be seen as the second in command to K1 who already occupied the position of the King of Fuji.

That second title that Pasuma acquired to tackle Saheed Osupa, apparently caught Saheed Osupa unaware. Because, at that time, the only response Saheed Osupa was able to give to Pasuma's "Otunba K1" title was saying that, he would want to be regarded as "Ilesanmi" which can be translated into English to mean, "No Title, No Problem". So, for the second time of tackling each other with titles, Pasuma got "Otunba K1", while Saheed Osupa got "Ilesanmi". However, unknown to Pasuma, Saheed Osupa was already working on a new title that would shock Pasuma too.

So, what did Saheed Osupa do? He approached the creator of Fuji music, late Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Balogun before his death, to give him the title of King of Music back then, to which Ayinde Barrister as the creator of Fuji music was also called, obliged. So, while Saheed Osupa had got his own third title ranging from Crown Prince of Fuji, to "Ilesanmi", to King of Music, Pasuma was still "Otunba K1" which was obviously lower to the title of a King that Saheed Osupa had gotten. But, fortunately or unfortunately, a misunderstanding cropped up between K1 and Pasuma shortly after then, and Pasuma decided to drop the title of "Otunba K1".

So, what third title did Pasuma take up? He said he had become the "Oga Nla of Fuji" (The Big Boss of Fuji). And, as if Saheed Osupa was already waiting for him, immediately Pasuma gave himself the title of "Oga Nla of Fuji", Saheed Osupa too said he had become the "Oba Nla" (Big King of Music). And, that is what, apparently, made Pasuma to go back to the drawing board to work out another title that would come bigger than "Oba Nla", and he came up with the title of "Ijoba Fuji" (Federal Government of Fuji). The thinking by Pasuma was that, whether as a Small King, or a Big King, all Kings would be under "Ijoba Fuji", as far as Fuji music industry is concerned.

So, while Saheed Osupa's 4 different titles to tackle Pasuma have ranged from: Crown Prince of Fuji to "Ilesanmi" to King of Music to Big King of Music, that of Pasuma have ranged from: Original Crown Prince of Fuji to "Otunba K1" to "Oga Nla of Fuji", and finally to "Ijoba Fuji". And, the healthy rivalry between the two of them over the years, has been part of the things that have been making the Fuji music industry very interesting to the fans.
