Famous Nigerian superstar, Ayodeji Balogun professionally referred to as Wizkid is a singer and songwriter. He is one of Africa's biggest artistes, Wizkid is the most decorated African artist internationally, and one of the most revolutionary Afro-pop artistes of the modern era.
Wizkid was born on 16 July 1990, in Surulere, Lagos where he grew up an interfaith household with twelve female siblings but originally from Ogun State, Ijebu Ode. His mother is a Pentecostal Christian and his father is a devoted Muslim.
He began recording his debut studio album Superstar in 2009. He released "Holla at Your Boy" as the album's lead single on 2 January 2010 and the song was nominated for Best Pop Single but earned him the Next Rated award at The Headies 2011.
Wizkid’s claim to fame came about after collaborating with Drake on the uber success of “One Dance.” So successful that it was the first song ever to reach 1 billion plays on Spotify. Little known fact is that Wizkid actually wrote that song. Which later earned the Nigerian star an international award from The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
