I believe many of my readers have heard of the movie series Annabelle. The series tell the tale of a demon possessed doll and how it terrorises the people it ends up living with. Turns out, the movie is part of the Conjuring series, a film series that recounts the tales of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators who have been reported to have encountered several demons in their life time.
Another interesting fact is that the film series seem to be based on facts and events that actually happened. Ed and Lorraine Warren did exist and have been reported to have engaged in several investigations, involving demons, eventually defeating the demons and coming out successful.
His wife, Lorraine Warren, was born on January 31, 1927. Like her husband, she was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. They established and coordinated the New England Society for Psychic Research.
The couple were reported to have investigated about 10, 000 cases of demonic presence but six cases are very outstanding. They are:
1. The Perron Family Haunting
2. The Amity ville Case
3. Annabelle, the doll.
4. A Haunting in Connecticut.
5. Southend Werewolf
6. Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson( The Devil Made Me Do It Case)
While you can research on this facts on any web browser of your choice, I will be explaining two cases the couple investigated:
The Annabelle Doll Case
Many of us have become familiarised with the film version of Annabelle. It turns out that the real life version of the Doll does not look as sinister as it does in the movies. While it was believed that the Doll was possessed by a seven year old dead girl known as Annabelle Higgins, the doll was revealed to be demon possessed by the couple, who blessed the family that kept it( freeing it from the doll's influence) and kept it in a case in their museum. Till date, the case has never been opened.
The Devil Made Me Do It Case
In this case, the Warren couple helped a demon possessed boy, David Glatzel, overcome his possession. However, his soon to be brother in law, Arne Johnson, ended up attacking and killing his landlord, Alan Bono. Johnson claimed to be possessed in the court and pleaded not guilty, though this tactic failed and he was convicted.
Ed died on August, 23, 2006 while his wife died on April 18, 2019. In their lifetime, they were opposed by so many sceptics. In fact, many believed they invented their cases. However, in a country such as Nigeria, I believe we know first hand on how real demon possession and spirits are.
Despite this opposition, they stood together and saved many lives. They did not let danger break up their marriage, a lesson many Nigerian couples should learn today. How many couples can fight against demons together?
Also, the Warren couple did not care about what anyone said about their faith and kept fighting the forces of darkness. This goes to show that no matter what anyone says, stand by the truth.
Today, the families they saved remember them and although their works are criticised by many as untrue, we should remember that supernatural forces exist and if they did encounter demons, they were putting their lives at risk for others.
