One notable attribute of Africans is that they are naturally dark skinned. However, the dark skin comes in different shades. While some are very dark, some are a bit dark and some others are lighter in complexion.
In time past, Africans used to be proud of their dark skin, but unfortunately, that has since changed in recent times. Nowadays, most dark skinned people want to be fair in complexion.
It is assumed by many that the fair skin is more attractive, therefore making a lot of people to bleach their dark skin to become fair. Although this goes for both sexes but it is mostly common with females. However, it is noteworthy to mention that some Africans are naturally fair skinned.
In my opinion, the dark skin is very lovely especially when well maintained, so it baffles me when some dark skinned people feel they are not beautiful enough because of the colour of their skin and then decide to bleach it.
Ironically, bleaching the skin comes with its own side effect. Though it may seem the fair skin is more attractive and appealing, but nevertheless, that doesn't make the dark skin less attractive.
