'I Am Going To Prove To The World That I Am Innocent' - Robert Kelly Speaks On Court Verdict

Embattled American music superstar, Robert Sylvester Kelly popularly known as R. Kelly, has vowed that he will prove his innocence after being convicted of sex trafficking.

The multi-platinum selling artist was found guilty of using his fame and status to operate a scheme that specialized in sexually abusing women and children, a crime that was committed across two decades.

During the trial that lasted for six weeks, a total of 11 accusers (nine women and two men) described how the accused violated and humiliated them sexually.

After two days of hard-fought deliberations, the jury declared Kelly guilty on a 9-count charge of sexual trafficking, sexual abuse, having sexual intercourse with minors, among others. Sentencing is due on May 4, 2022, and the singer is in danger of spending the rest of his life in prison.

Shortly after the jury found him guilty on all charges, Mr. Kelly took to his official Facebook page to declare his innocence. In his post, he thanked his fans for their support and vowed to continue fighting to prove his innocence.

R. Kelly has enjoyed a highly successful music career that has seen him win multiple awards in the process.
