What exactly happened to Jaden Smith, the kid who stole away our hearts in the Karate Kid movie

In 2010, a cute 12-year-old boy became an household name in the movie industry as a result of his performance in the blockbuster movie titled "Karate kid", however, much has happened since then as recent pictures suggest all is not well with him.

Jaden Christopher Smith a.k.a karate kid starred alongside movie legend Jackie Chan in the remake of the 1984 movie. The movie was a big success both locally and internationally and set the young smith on his way to stardom.

Although, the movie was not Jaden's first movie appearance, it was his biggest hit yet. At just 12, he won the heart of many fans worldwide just as the movie continues to receive mainly positive reviews from critics.

Jaden Smith's first movie role was with his father in the 2006 film titled The Pursuit of Happyness and has since gone on to act in movies such as the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, 2013 film After Earth among others.

Jaden was born on July 8, 1998, in Malibu, California to acclaimed movie stars, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. He has an older half-brother, Trey Smith (born 1992), and a younger sister, Willow Smith (born 2000).

Smith attended New Village Leadership Academy before being homeschooled by his parents. Aside being an actor, he is also a rapper, singer and songwriter.

By the time he turned 12, Smith had already achieved levels of success that most actors could only dream of. All three of his films had debuted at No. 1 at the North American box office, and he seemed ready to follow his parents down the path of Hollywood stardom.

All seemed well for the young lad but his recent looks suggest otherwise now. One could easily wonder how the young actor went from lookingso gorgeous and handsome while growing up becoming a skinny and unhealthy 22-year-old

Between 2010 and 2015, his career seems to be moving on a trajectory level despite taking a break from acting to launch his musical career. In 2010, Smith rapped alongside Canadian singer Justin Bieber in the song "Never Say Never." The song peaked at 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 5× Platinum in the US.

Three years later, he returned to the screens to star alongside his father in the 2013 sci-fi movie After Earth, however, both the film and its young star received a harsh reception from audiences, as he "won" the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor.

This experience seemingly soured him and was the start of an extended hiatus from the big screen. He started to withdraw gradually from the society while occassionally pulling up controversial theories at some point in time. In 2013, Smith raised controversy when he criticized traditional education and advised people to drop out of school. Talking about teenagers who go to public school, Smith said "kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty.

Smith is a vegatarian and his vegan lifestyle caused his parents to stage an intervention at some point when his health deteriorated leading to his skin turning grey. He was later diagnosed with lactose intolerance and coeliac disease, illnesses with no relation to veganism.

Growing up, Jaden was isolated from having a normal childhood, as a result of his parents being movie stars which is something he has spoken on at lenght. His parents never supported punishing kids .

Jaden's father, Will, revealed that his son sought an emancipation ruling, with the consent of his parents, as a present for his 15th birthday. Will also revealed to the media that Smith's primary motivation is the establishment of his own residence and also explained that his children are not subject to strict parenting conduct: "We generally don't believe in punishment. From the time Jaden was five or six we would sit him down, and all he has to do is be able to explain why what he did was the right thing for his life."

In June 2017, Smith moved out of his parents' house into a $4 million home in Hidden Hills He dated Sarah Snyder from 2015 to 2017. The two broke up after "growing apart" amid cheating rumors. Snyder inspired numerous songs on Smith's debut album, Syre.

Between 2010 and 2016, his pictures suggested that he was still hale and healthy but his drastic decline in health started in 2017 and has remained the same till date
