Meet 7 Nollywood Actresses Whose Mothers Are Not From Nigeria (Photos)

1. Empress Njamah (Cameroonian Mother)

Empress Njamah is a Nigerian actress. In 2012, she was nominated for best supporting actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, but lost out to Terry Pheto.

Njamah's father is a Nigerian and her mother a Cameroonian. She is a graduate of English from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. She once dated Timaya, but the relationship ended after becoming a subject of discussion on social media. Commenting on her marital status, she explained that she is not bothered by remaining single since her family is enlightened and understands that the ratio of women to men is uneven. She went further to explain that celebrity marriages do not last and there really isn't any point in wasting funds for a wedding that will not stand the test of time. On the prevalence on "baby mama's" in Nollywood, she explained to The Punch that most of the single actresses with children regret their steps but are not bold enough to say that in public.

She started acting in 1995. As part of her corporate social responsibility, she launched a foundation called House of Empress, that caters for kids with special needs. The foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016.

2. Sarah Ofili (Hungarian Mother)

Sarah Ofili is an international model, beauty blogger, designer, radio host and television presenter, and a Nigerian actress born on October 22, 1984.

Sarah’s father is a Nigerian while her mother is from Hungary.

She obtained a diploma in Psychology from the University of Jos and also attended the London school of Beauty & Make-Up, London, England.

She’s quite beautiful and also has an attractive body figure which she never hesitate to flaunt even as a beauty specialist.

Sarah has her on shoe brand, Kantona and had also worked on television documentary “Road Trip Nigeria”. She appeared in the television series “Do Good” produced by Basorge Tariah Jr.

Ofili eventually came to limelight in 2011 when she got engaged to Nigerian rapper Ikechukwu in 2011 before they finally parted ways in 2012 on the basis of infidelity.

Ikechukwu had accused Sarah of cheating on him with the fellow rapper Terry Da Rapman, an issue which was soon blown out of proportion.

However, Sarah and her siblings had warned Ikechukwu not mention their names in any of the issue on social media.

Sarah Ofili moved on with her life and got married to Seigha Adukeh in a private traditional ceremony at Asaba, Delta state.

3. Adunni Ade (German Mother)

Adunni Ade, born 7 June 1987, is a Nigerian actress and model.

Adunni was born in Queens, New York, United States to a German mother and a Yoruba Nigerian father. She was raised in Lagos and the United States. She had her elementary schooling in Lagos and Ogun states. Her Lagos-based father, who is also a successful businessman inspired her to study Accounting. She earned a degree in accounting at the University of Kentucky in 2008.

Adunni worked in the housing and insurance sectors in the United States before switching to the entertainment industry. She ventured into fashion modelling and featured in America's Next Top Model. After moving back to Nigeria, she landed her first Nollywood role when she acted in the Yoruba language film "You or I" in 2013. She has also featured in several other Nollywood movies of both English and Yoruba languages, including some music videos for Sound Sultan and Ice Prince. She received a Stella Award from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism for her efforts in promoting the Nigerian culture. In 2017, she became the brand ambassador for OUD Majestic.

Adunni has two sons; D'Marion and Ayden. She revealed that after she made a difficult choice to break up with their father, she would continue being a single parent.

4. Christabel Ekeh (Ghanaian Mother)

Christabel Ekeh is a Nollywood and Ghallywood actress and Model. She has been featured in more than eighty Ghanaian and Nigerian movies.

Ekeh was born in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father and Ghanaian mother. She had her secondary education at the St. Mary's Senior High School and she studied theatre arts at the University of Ghana where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree.

Ekeh started her career as a model and participated at the beauty pageant, Miss Malaika Ghana 2008 and won the second position. Her acting career began when she featured in the Nigerian movie College Girls.

Philldella Yve is a 29 years old talented Nigerian-Cameroonian actress, film maker, model, YouTuber and motivational speaker born on 24th December.

She made her spotlight appearance after playing a vital role in the movies; Spanky Brown which is also famous as The Shy Village Girls and also playing a role in the Nollywood blockbuster, Foreigners.

Philldella Yve was born on the 24th of December in the 1991 in Bamenda, a vicinity situated in Cameroon. She was conceived to a Nigerian father and her mother happen to be a Cameroonian. Philldella Yve is rocking in her 20s, aged 29 years. She enjoys dual citizenship as she’s paired by her mother and father to Nigeria and Cameroon.The talented Nollywood actress lives in Lagos where she pursues her career.

6. Yvonne Okoro (Ghanaian Mother)

Chinyere Yvonne Okoro is a Nollywood and Ghallywood actress. She received Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress Award in 2010 and was nominated for Africa Movie Academy Awards Best Actress twice in a row in 2011 and 2012 for her movies Pool Party and Single Six. She has also received four Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award and in 2012 was honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award at the Nigeria Excellence Awards.

She was Born to a Ghanaian mum and a Nigerian dad. Yvonne Okoro is of mixed lineage and calls herself an African. She comes from a very large family, as the first child of her mother and the fifth of all siblings. She, from a young age, showed desire to be an actress. She attended Achimota Preparatory School after which she went to the Lincoln Community School and then to Faith Montessori School. She continued at Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School after which she enrolled at University of Ghana, Legon where she did Bachelor of Arts, combining English and Linguistics. Subsequently, she was at the Universite de Nantes in France to study Press Civilization, Drama and Marketing.

She made her screen debut in Sticking to the Promise, a 2002 movie produced by the Nigerian producer Theo Akatugba, just after her Senior High Education. She also played a cameo role in the hit series Tentacles by the same producer for Point Blank Media Concepts.

She’s currently the host of Dinning with Cooks and Braggarts. Cooks and Braggarts is a celebrity cooking show that features well-known figures to mint their hands on how they cook their favourite foods while bespeaking about various topics.

7. Ibinabo Fiberesima (Irish Mother)

Ibinabo Fiberesima was born on January 13th, 1973 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Nigeria, to a Nigerian father from Okirika, Rivers state, and an Irish mother. She is an actress, director, event planner and National director for Miss Earth Nigeria.

Ibinabo is the second child in a family of six. Her father, J.B.Fiberesima, was a medical doctor. She attended the Y.M.C.A Play Centre, Port Harcourt and had her secondary education at the Federal Government Girls College, New Bussa in Niger State. In 1994, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Ibadan.

Ibinabo made her first appearance in the 1991 Miss Nigeria beauty pageant hosted by Silverbird Television. She ended up as the first runner-up in the competition. Prior to the competition, she won the Miss Wonderland contest in 1990 and in that same year, was the first runner-up at the Miss NUGA competition held at the University of Calabar in Cross River State. She went on to win the Miss Wonderland Beauty Pageant in 1997.

She also contributed positively to the Nigerian Music Industry by appearing in Music videos especially those of Edward Inyang, whose stage name is Blackky. She is also the National Director for Nigeria to the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant and Miss International Beauty Pageant.

In 2014 the Nigerian actress got married to Uche Egbuka. First, the couple had a traditional wedding and then a white wedding ceremony. In 2017, stated that her two-year marriage had broken up. She has three children - two boys and a girl, from three different relationships. Her youngest is the girl named Zino and her father is Fred Amata. Her son, named Sean Leam, is about 20 years of age. He is a footballer and plays in one of the UK teams. She has also adopted some kids but she does not really reveal a lot of information about them.

In 2009, Ibinabo was charged for manslaughter and reckless driving after she accidentally killed a certain Giwa Suraj in 2006. On March 16th, 2016, she was removed from her role as the National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria and was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Nigeria. She was granted bail on April 7th, 2016, after the payment of the sum of 2 million was granted on her behalf by a Court of Appeal in Lagos pending the determination of her appeal at the Supreme Court.

Ibinabo is a recipient of the City People Movie Special Recognition Award.
