In 2005, Rihanna was popular after releasing her album “Music of the Sun” and followed by “A Girl Like Me” in (2006).

Rihanna's third album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), incorporated elements of dance-pop and established her status as a sex symbol in the music industry. The chart-topping single "Umbrella" earned Rihanna her first Grammy Award and catapulted her to global stardom.

Rihanna owns a $14 million penthouse in . She also purchased a house in West London for £7 million in June 2018, in order to be closer to her work with her FENTY fashion label.

According to the New York Post, Rihanna filed a lawsuit against Peter Gounis and the firm Berdon LLP for $35 million in 2012.

In 2017 she founded the fashion house Fenty as its artistic director, and became the first black woman to head a luxury brand for LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) group.
