Alarming right?. The rate at which Nigerians fight and argue over celebrities than what could benefit them(technology) is quite alarming.
This has contributed to the fact why Nigeria have never progressed in terms of technological advancement.
You log in to Nigeria's Digital Space, Twitter and see some topics climbing the trend table. From Big brother Naija stars to other trend and never saw some argument on what could benefit the country technically.
What has these celebrities done to influence your lives that you keep staning, restaning and pakistaning them more than you would have done for those who knew you, like your parents.
Sometimes not all blames should be placed on the government. The government has proven to be indifferent to the plights due to the attitude and mindsets of its citizens.
The country can only progress if there can be a change in the mindset of the youths. Discuss worthwhile topics and don't just move along with any trend you come along on the space with the belief that is how Twitter is; For dragging and trending.
Some youths even go ahead to create unhealthy and unnecessary rivalries among themselves in the name of staning their favorite celebrities. If an opponent contributes and buys car for their faves, the rivals buys times two and 'dem tok say money no dey Lagos'. Sometimes the rich only get richer due to the ignorance and foolishness of the poor. How have those celebrities you bought something for invested or influenced your lives positively. Even if these money were invested in others lives like was done during the EndSars protest, it would have been better.
There need to be a change of views or topics on the space if not no progress will be made and the government will still be blamed for unemployment. There is a level one will get to that they won't even notice the presence of the government in the country.
Few days ago, I posted an article on NASA Perseverance landing on Mars and funnily enough, till today, it can't boast of one click but an article I made on 'Ginger' video got over 10k clicks and you wonder why Nigerians will always be behind in terms of technological advancement. 'Make America no go Mars leave una behind oo' lol. Always waiting for the United States to produce something so it can be imported into the country.
All I can view here is lack of self-confidence on the part of Nigerians. There are some who can actually make a change but this idea of being 'dragged like a generator' on Twitter has stopped them from doing so.
All in all, there can't be growth and development in this country if there isn't a change in the mindset of Nigerians. I am sorry if this article may have hurt anyone but the truth needs to be told.
But is it actually the mindset or educational system of the country that has brought about this indifference to technology?
Your opinions are highly welcomed.
