5 Talented Musicians We Want To See Return To The Limelight

These five Nigerian musicians gave us great songs while they were active in the music scene.

Some have stayed away from the music scene for so long, others made a brief comeback.

However, we want them to make a major return to the limelight because of their undeniable talents.

Niyola

Niyola used to be a force to reckon with. When she first emerged on the music scene, she could be described as the first lady of E.M.E music. In 2012, she was the first female artist signed to the record label owned by Banky W.

Till date, Niyola is recognised as one of the best talents the Nigerian entertainment industry has produced.

The beautiful singer had an angelic voice, with so many stunning music videos to her credit.

Her song 'Toh Bad' was easily most people's favourite, as well as her cover version of Beyonce's 'Drunk In Love' that showcased her amazing vocals.

It came as a surprise to fans when the talented singer left Banky W's record company E.M.E in 2015, and stayed out of the limelight.

After many years of silence, Niyola made a brief comeback in 2020 with a nice single titled 'Olúmorántí'.

According to her, the song was a homage to her late parents.

GT Da Guitarman

GT Da Guitarman was signed to Storm Records in 2005.

When he first emerged, it was clear that he was bound to be a star.

His knowledge of the guitar made him a fan favourite.

At the time, so many ladies had a crush on him due to his good looks, his boyish charm and unique singing ability.

He later parted ways with Storm Records on good terms to form his label EMBER Entertainment, and much hasn't been heard from him in recent years.

However, GT's most popular song was 'Dreamer' released in 2009.

Years later, it remains a timeless anthem.

It would be nice to see him in the spotlight again.

Resonance

Every music lover remembers the gospel music group Resonance.

Esther Ebigbo, was the singer in the group, while Uche was the rapper. Together they were a force.

In 2008, they took the Nigerian music scene by storm with songs like 'Lee Lee' and 'Chinwe Ike'.

It seemed like their journey to fame had only begun.

However, it came as a surprise to fans when shortly after their success, the music duo confirmed their breakup.

11 years since the group's split the song 'Chinwe Ike' still has a special place in our hearts. Hopefully they make music as a group again.

Cynthia Morgan

Cynthia, who now goes by the name 'Madrina' was once the queen of Dancehall and Reggae singer.

Although she has been linked to some controversies that seemingly slowed down her career these past few years, she can still make it back to the limelight.

Songs like 'I'm Taken' and 'Don't Break My Heart' remind us of her singing and rapping prowess.

Solidstar

Joshua Iniyezo, also known as Solidstar has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry.

The hip hop and dancehall singer was one of the few whose music showcased his roots, Ajegunle.

His debut album 'One in a Million' released in 2010 was a huge success. It featured some top artists like 2face and Clever Jay.

His follow-up album 'Grace and Glory' released in 2013 was reportedly not as big as his first album.

Although he has four albums to his credit and several smash hits like 'Wait' and 'Nwa baby', he is widely recognised across Nigeria and beyond for the song 'One in a Million'.

We await his return to the limelight.
