DMX, The Influential Rapper, Actor In Action Films, Has Passed Away At 50

His death was confirmed in an official statement from DMX's family and the White Plains Hospital. Following his heart attack, DMX was hospitalized in the White Plains Hospital ICU where he spent his final days on life support.

DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, collapsed at his home last Friday after having a heart attack following an apparent drug overdose. He had been on life support in the ICU at White Plains Hospital.

He lived a complex life, frequently crossing a middle ground between addiction and sobriety, pain and healing, anger and forgiveness.

Over the years, he coped with substance abuse and tried rehabilitation a few times. He canceled shows in 2019 to go into rehab.

So sad, he’ll always be a legend in people's eyes, even my teenage years involved a lot of DMX, so hearing his music will always remind me of the good old days. He will be greatly missed, at least this addiction no longer has a hold on him.

The rapper and actor is known for his music with hits such as "Ruff Ryders' Anthem," "Party Up (Up In Here)," and "What's My Name?" He also appeared in cult classics like Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, and Cradle 2 the Grave. The actor was a fixture in rap music with the Ruff Ryders crew during the late '90s to the 2000s.
