Mothers make major sacrifices to maintain the longevity of their marriages and the prevention of a broken home for their children. These sacrifices could range from giving up a childhood dream to quitting their jobs to satisfy their husbands, as Destiny Etiko's mom did.
Destiny Etiko has been one of the most talked-about actresses in the Nigerian movie Industry since 2012. The curvy actress from Enugu state has been making news for all the right reasons, from buying expensive cars to recently showcasing a mansion. However, only a few people are aware of her mother's pivotal role in shaping her into the woman she is today.
Destiny Etiko revealed in a June 2020 interview with the Sun newspaper that her mother introduced her to acting by taking her to sets. She would hold her mother's bag in her hand while watching her perform. Destiny Etiko's mother was a talented actress, but her time in Nollywood came to an abrupt end.
According to Destiny Etiko, her late father stopped her mother from acting since she didn't have time to care for the family. Unlike other women who might quarrel with their husband's decision, Destiny Etiko's mother obeyed her husband and sacrificed her career to raise her children and take care of her family. Today, her daughter is now one of Nollywood's most sought-after actresses and has even gifted her a fully furnished house.
If Destiny Etiko's mother had refused to agree to her husband's decision, the pair might have divorced, and as we all know, a broken home can have major effects on children. Mothers are unquestionably symbols of self-sacrifice.
