9 Veteran Nollywood Actors and Where They Are Now (PHOTOS)

The Nigerian entertainment industry has evolved over the years while progressively producing talented stars we cannot forget in a hurry.

In this article, we will be taking a look at 9 veteran Nollywood actors and where they are now.

1. Bob-Manuel Udokwu

Bob-Manuel Udokwu is a Nigerian actor, producer, and anchor of the popular Gulder Ultimate search from 2007-2011.

He made his debut in the year 1992 featuring in the blockbuster movie; Living in Bondage, which went on to become a massive success and cemented Nollywood's reputation. 

Following this, Bob-Manuel went on to appear in more notable films such as When The Sun Sets and Checkmate.

Where is he now?

According to reports, Bob-Manuel is now the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State, Mr Willie Obiano, on Creative Media (Movie and Entertainment).

Since he ventured into politics, he has been less active in Nollywood.

2. Saint Obi

Saint Obi, dubbed "Mr. Quality" for his high-level performances and attention to detail. He made his Nollywood debut in the year 1995, and then became a household name in the early 2000s.

Where is he now?

According to VANGUARD the actor took a break from Nollywood and became a musician.

3. Charles Okafor

Charles Okafor is an actor who first came to prominence after featuring in the 1996 Nollywood blockbuster movie, Domitilla.

Charles is one of the actors who quickly rose to prominence, starring in movies such as Computer Girls, Abuja Boys, and Executive Connection.

Where is he now:

According to The Whistler, Charles left Nollywood in the year 2013, saying he left because of his faith.

4. Sam Dede

Sam Dede is a well-known Nollywood actor who has appeared in action films including Isakaba, Igodo, and Mission To Nowhere.

Where he is now:

When asked about his noticeable absence from the film industry in an interview with VANGUARD, Sam Dede said:

Three years ago, I honorably accepted the position of Director-Generalof the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA), and this is one of the reasons I've stayed away from the Nollywood industry.

I only have one year left as D-G of RSTDA, after which I will return to the movie industry, theatre, and school.

In 2018, Sam made a comeback in Nollywood featuring in Kamsi, and in 2019, he starred in the television series The State.

5. Tony Umez

Tony Umez began acting professionally in 1993. He rose to notoriety after appearing in the 1998 film "Died Wretched," and went on to feature in a number of movies, including Taste of Sin, Last Dance, and Cross of Agony.

The Nollywood actor never left the Nollywood industry only that his face is scarce on the screen. In fact, he featured in the movie; "16th Anniversary," which was released in 2017.

6. Pat Attah

Pat Attah was an household name in the Nollywood industry around early 2000s. He appeared in a number of films, including Glamour Girls, Jealous Lovers, and Love From Above.

Where he is now:

According to reports, Pat relocated to Germany in 2011 and since then, we haven't seen him appear in movies again, not until he released a music video in 2018.

7. Hanks Anuku

Hanks Anuku was and will always will be the first Nollywood gangster. Hanks Anuku was an household name in the Nollywood industry around the early 2000s, starring in several action films including; Save the baby, Skeleton, Senator, and The Fall of the Great Jago.

Where is he now?

Hanks relocated to Ghana with his family.

8. Emeka Ike

In the early 2000s, Emeka Ike was the poster boy of Nollywood, as he was everywhere. In fact, at a time, he was in six out of every 10 movies released in Nollywood.

But that was then. According to reports, the actor is said to be involved in business and politics, and since then has taken the back seat.

Even we his fans cannot remember when last we saw him on screen.

9. Gentle Jack

Gentle Jack is another Nollywood villain who featured in several action movies.

He played the title character in the film Vuga, listed in August 2018 as one of the ten most memorable Nigerian film characters of the 90s and 2000s by magazine Pulse. 

Where is he now:

Gentle Jack currently lives in Port Harcourt, River State in the south southern part of Nigeria with his family.
