You know that vow the man of God asks the bride and groom on their wedding day - "yes, that very one that features the words 'till death do us part'? Well, it is not only death that can do people apart anymore. In fact, the rate of marriage crashes and divorces is alarming and a huge cause for concern. It's like people no longer respect the vows or regard the marriage union as a scared institution. They jump in and out like kids skipping rope for fun; very sad and unfortunate.
Some of the worst hit marriages are the celebrity related ones. It could be because their life is out there for the public and they couldn't withstand the pressure that comes with being well known. It could also be because one party cheated and the other couldn't trust them anymore. It could also be for many other reasons they feel is irreconcilable hence the need for the breakup. Over the past years, we have heard of some celebrity marriages shorter than the raining season; some even only lasted for a month. These breakups surprised people so much that it inspired me to gather together a list of those noteworthy unions that crashed like the Titanic. Without further ado, here they are:
Yvonne Jegede and Olakunle Abounce Fawole - 1 year
Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede and her ex- husband, Abounce, a fellow actor got married in February 2018 but it ended around January 2019. In fact, the actress confirmed that she quit the union when she was 3 months pregnant with their son.
Funke Akindele and Kehinde Oloyede - 1 year 2 months
The union of the super talented actress, Funke Akindele and her ex-husband ended after nearly a year. She has since moved on, marrying Nigerian songwriter, rapper, record and television producer, JJC Skillz and giving birth to twin babies.
Tonto Dikeh and Churchill - 17 months
This is perhaps the most tumultuous marriage crash ever with them airing their dirty secrets in public. Their union lasted for 17 months in a messy affair.
Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida - 18 months
The union of popular media personality, Toke Makinwa and her fitness instructor ex husband lasted for 18 months before she called it quits on ground of infidelity on his part.
Chiege Alisigwe and Tony Ebbe - 3 months
The pretty actress and her senior police officer husband ended after only 3 months.
Kenneth Okonkwo and Ogechi Ezekiel - 2 years
The handsome actor ended his marriage to the daughter of CPM General Overseer barely two years after.

Princess and Adeshola Jeremiah - 1 month
The popular comedienne and her actor/producer ex husband gave marriage a go but could only last for a month before it collapsed due to irreconcilable differences.
Lilian Esoro and Ubi Franklin - 11 months
The popular actress had married music artiste manager, Ubi Franklin in November 2015 but the marriage ended abruptly around October 2016.
Damola Olatunji and Raliat Damilola - 1 year
The top Yoruba actor's marriage ended after a year after allegations of his affair with his colleague, Bukola Awoyemi.
One things is common with all the aforementioned breakup - they were really short and lasted for less than 2 years with some messy endings.
