The director of National Park and Recreation Abuja, Hajia Raskuta Abdulazeez has promised a delegate of Anambra State Towns and People Association (ASTPA) that a park will be allocated the association when the embargo placed on allocation of parks by the Minister of FCT is lifted. The delegate was led by Rotarian Kanayo Chukwumezie the present Assistant President General of ASTPA and one of the candidates in the forthcoming election for the position of the President General of ASTPA.
During the visit the Director of National Park and Recreation, Abuja informed the delegate about one of the activities of her agency which is tree planting.
There is a presidential initiative programme on seed planting which is under the Ministry of Environment. The programme is supposed to have kicked off in August 2020 and about 70,000 seeds were brought from the south.
The planting of the seeds has been put on hold because of the persistent dry season. The director says the planting will start immediately the raining season starts fully.
The director revealed that though her agency has been partnering with some NGO in their activities, ASTPA will join in the exercise. And she assured members of the delegation that a recreational park will be allocated to ASTPA as soon as the embargo is lifted.
Rotarian Kanayo Chukwumezie thanked the director for bringing ASTPA on board the activities of her agency and for promising to allocate a park to the association. He promised that ASTPA will maintain the park that will be allocated to it to an international standard.
