Just imagine walking across the road on zebra crossing and you are expecting a danfo driver to wait for you as a pedestrian.
Zebra crossing which is also known as pedestrian crossing an area of road painted with broad white stripes, where vehicles must stop if pedestrians wish to cross.
The name is actually derived from the animal zebra. Zebra is African equines with distinctive black-and-white striped coats.
So,whenever there's zebra crossing, motorists must stop their vehicles for pedestrians to cross. The main feature is that it gives priority to pedestrians; once someone has indicated their intent to cross by waiting by the crossing, motorists are obliged to stop
Most zebra crossings in Nigeria are useless as motorists don't obey them but to my surprise, newly constructed roads are still having the signs.Maybe, motorists can learn to do things appropriately. Henceforth, if you are a motorist, you are legally required to stop at a zebra crossing once a pedestrian has moved on to the crossing....Change begins with you and me.
