Onika Tanya Maraj, who we all know better as Nicki Minaj, is a Trinidadian rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and model. She was born in Saint James district of Port of Spain but was raised in the Queens borough of New York City. She has won multiple awards after she came into the lime light in her music career. She became recognized by the public in 2007 after she released the mix tapes Playtime Is Over. Nicki is one of the most successful and popular female rappers in the world.
Today i will be showing you the pictures of Nicki in African wax prints that we all know as Ankara. Ankara is all called Dutch wax prints. Ankara in an omnipresent and very common material for making clothes in Africa. It is very common especially in West Africa and it is ever present in our country Nigeria. Ankara is an industrially produced, colorful cotton cloth that is made with batik inspired printing.
Ankara is used mainly for celebrations in Nigeria for so many reasons. But it seems that these days it is used for parties out of culture since that is how it was used by our predecessors in the past.
But this article is not about Ankara nor is it about Nicki. It is about the combination of both of them. It is about Nicki Minaj wearing our very own Ankara and making us proud of our culture.
