According to Wikipedia:Fashion is a popular aesthetic expression at a particular time, place and in a specific context, especially in clothing, footwear , lifestyle ,accessories , makeup , hairstyle, and body proportions. Whereas a trend often connotes a peculiar aesthetic expression and often lasting shorter than a season, fashion is a distinctive and industry-supported expression traditionally tied to the fashion season and collections. Fashion is an inner expression of how a person wears accessories that brings out the beauty of the person. Most times fashion are beauty items that are in Vogue at a particular point in time.
Fashion is considered many things to many people, it depends on religious, social, cultural, and even traditional view for a person to express his or herself in a way the person is identified with a particular fashion item. Hence in as much as some fashion sense goes down well with a particular group others view that fashion sense or item as an omen of something bad or a bad behavioral pattern followed as some sort of trend by the person wearing it.
Here are a list of fashion item that when worn by a child most especially in an African setting will make parents quiver and give that omen that the child is bad or Wayward.
1.Berret: the Berret is a fashion item worn as a covering for the head and it comes in various colours and are very fanciful when adorn with some clothes. But over time this fashion item has become synonymous with cultism especially in Nigeria universities as many cult groups are now identified with certain colour for their group, and wearing a certain colour might make your parent look at you like a member of a cult.
2.Ankle chain: the ankle chain is a very beautiful chain that ladies wear mostly on the ankle part of their leg. But people are now of the view that ladies that use the ankle chain are nothing but lesbians, hence wearing an angle chain now will make African have a homophobic alert on the child.
3. Artificial Eye Lashes: the eye lashes is a trendy fashion item that ladies love to wear as it brings out the beauty in the eye and makes the eye pleasant to look at, but based on some religious beliefs, some parents view their children that rock the fashion item as daughters of Jezebel.
4. Waist beads: there is a kind of general fear that comes with the waist beads, especially from men as they feel it is some kind of charms worn by women to have some sort of control over them. Some parents even warn their children to stay clear of girl that adorn themselves with this simple fashion accessories.
5. Artificial Nails: you know how ladies love their pedicure and manicure,and are always flaunting them especially with the beautiful colour that gives the finger a view out of the ordinary that finger nails always comes with. Well some African parent, mostly the fanatical religious ones don't want Their child wearing artificial finger nails as they view it as devilish.
