6 Daily Habits That Could Give You Wrinkles

Some seemingly harmless everyday actions may have negative long-term side effects for our skin. For example, eating red meat often can speed up the aging process and skipping sunscreen when you’re indoors may lead to pigmentation and older looking skin

However, here are 6 daily habits that could give you Wrinkles

1) Chewing gum

Some cosmetic surgeons have found that patients who chew gum excessively develop wrinkles around their mouths. These wrinkles are caused by the repetitive motion of chewing, which causes the skin around the mouth to fold and eventually cause lines.

2) Staring on your smartphone

Looking down at your smartphone for a long duration can cause permanent wrinkles around your chin and neck. This happens because of repetitive movement of the neck over a long period of time.

The constant downward gaze caused by the use of smartphone may be causing some individuals to experience more lines and creases on their neck than would appear naturally. Even if your face maintains its youthful volume, signs of aging on the neck can give you away

3) Sipping through a straw

It seems innocuous, but frequently sipping drinks through a straw can cause wrinkles to form around your mouth. This repetitive muscle motion breaks down the collagen around your mouth, creating permanent creases in your skin

4) Sleeping on your side

If you sleep on your side or on your stomach, your face might be pressed into your pillow, causing your skin to fold up and form vertical wrinkles. Since we spend our time sleeping, these “sleep lines” get repeatedly reinforced and etched into your skin over time, like folds in leather shoes.

5) Wearing a sleep mask

If you woke up finding another strong crease around your eyes, it may also be due to the fabric of your sleep mask. Synthetic fibres create friction on your skin, dragging the delicate cells on your face, which then results to the creation of wrinkles and creases.

6) Running

Runners often have wrinkles for reasons other than running. Many runners spend long hours outdoors without proper sun protection, so the wrinkles are a result of sun exposure. Runners are also lost a lot of weight, so the wrinkles are from the skin that was previously filled with fat.
