Not everyone is style-conscious, so it's quite understandable if you don't have one or can’t place it. However, one of the benefits of having a style is that it gives you a personal brand, something to differentiate you from the man next door.
The article is especially for you if you want to do better than looking good on average. The best part of this guide is that you can start with what you have.
1. Declutter your wardrobe
Trust me when I say you do not need to have a large wardrobe to be a man of style. Why keep outfits you haven’t worn for more than 6 months in your space? That alone can get you confused about what to wear and how to wear them whenever you want to go out. Having said that, the first way to maximize your outfits is to give out or dispose of the ones lying fallow, especially if you haven't worn them for six months and above. The truth is that you hardly remember you have some of them since they are not always in your face which could mean they are not needed.
2. Adjust oversized clothes
Since you do not have a style yet, keeping oversized clothes in your wardrobe may be overwhelming, making you avoid wearing them. It is best to go get them shaped to fit except the ones that may get damaged if restructured because of the way it is made from the factory. You should ensure that the tailor who would handle the project owns his skill so you won't worry about getting your clothes ruined.
3. Buy quality over quantity
It is better to have a few pieces that are durable than having a closet full of low-quality clothing and accessories. Ensure you buy more quality things even if it is one or two at a time.
4. Buy and wear more trousers and accessories in colours and patterns
One way to create a better look for yourself is to pop in more colours and patterns into your outfits. But what if I don’t have them you may ask? Then you buy them, I will say. Lol. You may have to write a budget for them and search online for ideas. You can also get the help of your spouse, partner, friend or sibling in doing so. A stylish colleague at work or in class (if you’re a student) also can be of help, I bet they won’t say no. Just ensure you get more trousers, shoes, ties, and all things in-between.
5. Get inspiration from your screen
Okay guys let’s talk. I know movies are for relaxation and action movies are the real reason for that but even while watching movies, pay attention to the dressing of the characters. You will surely get inspiration from them. The other side to this is to use your phone screen to your advantage. When you surf the internet, take note of the way celebrities and public figures wear their outfits.
