Remember The Model That Was Mocked Because Of Her Skin Colour? See 20 Stunning Photos Of Her
Black is beautiful. It really is and anyone who mocks people with dark skin isn't sensible enough
Khoudia Diop, also known as the Melanin Goddess, is a Senegalese fashion model and actress.
Khoudia Diop was teased for her dark skin tone when she left her native Senegal and moved to New York City.
“At first I confronted the bullies, but eventually I learned to stay positive, tune out the negativity and love myself more each day,” the model, 19, tells PEOPLE. “This helped tremendously.”
What's more challenging is embracing your own looks.
The French-Senegalese may model professionally, but that doesn't mean her life so far has been easy. For years, Diop was ceaselessly mocked for her dark skin.
Other children called her "darky" and "daughter of the night," never thinking about how much their words hurt the young girl.
She's bigger and better now. So comfortable in her own skin
