Steps on how to prepare Some Nigerian Delicacies that tastes like Mummy's Pot

If there's is anything a Nigerian Man is most given credit for, it should be for his love on his traditions. No matter where you see a Nigerian Man he always remembers home.

Nigerians are recognized in some places by their love for traditions such as; Traditional Clothes, Greetings and also our Traditional Food. The Nigerian Traditional Food are different from others in the whole world we have foods like: " Fufu, Eba, Semovita, Egusi, Okra, Ogbono, Banga, Oha and others.

Below we shall be taking on look on how to prepare some of the most popular Nigerian soups which tastes excellently well. We will be discussion two of the most easiest souls which are Egusi and Okra Soup.

Cooking Ingredients


1. 4 cups of Egusi (Melon) seeds

2. 3 cooking spoons of red palm oil

3. Beef

4. Fish

5. 2 tablespoons ground crayfish

6. Pepper and Salt

7. Vegetables: Nigerian Pumpkin leafs; Spinach or bitter leaf

8. 3 Small stock cubes

Cooking Directions

1. Pour the red palm oil into a dry pot and set on the stove to heat. As soon as the oil melts, add the ground Egusi and start frying. Mix the ground egusi with oil till every grain of Egusi turns yellow.

2. Start Stirring the Egusi on a minimum heat, keep stir- frying for about 10 minutes

3. Add the meat and fish if available.

4. Cover the pot and cook for 20minutes, stir at intervals. Also, add some water when necessary, if you refuse to stir it would get burnt. It takes approximately 30 minutes to cook a very nice Egusi soup.

5. When it is done add the crayfish and pepper , stir and add some leafs.

6. Stir very well and add the cooked stockfish, and meat

7. Add salt, if it is two thick add some water to bring it to a consistency you like, Cover and leave it to boil and your Food is ready.

Serve with Either Eba, Fufu or Semovita.

How to prepare the Okra Soup

Okra Soup is one of the quickest and easiest Nigerian soup to make.

Ingredients

5 cups (250g) okra

3 cooking spoons of red palm oil

Beef

Fish

Crayfish

Pepper and Salt

Onions

Vegetables

Seasoning cube

Cooking Directions

1. Add water sparingly because this soup needs to be thick. Add the soaked shaki and dryfish to the cooked shaki.

2. When you are happy that the Shaki and Stock fish are well - done add the beef, onions and stock cubes and cook till done.

3. Pour red palm oil in another pot and heat the pot to dissolve the oil if it is congealed. Add the sliced okra and start frying to kick start the process, add some meat stock from time to time till you notice the okra start to draw.

4. Now add the vegetable and stir well, add all the meat and fish, crayfish, pepper and salt to taste

5. Cover the pot and leave to boil

Your food is ready.

Serve best with Pounded Yam, Fufu or Semovita.
