Inkling Health Educators will be discussing seven of those kind of foods that can improve the Brain.
Many people enjoy yoghurt for the added benefit of probiotics which help the digestive system to run smoothly. However, recent research has shown that probiotics found in yoghurt can also improve a person's mental health, assisting in lowering, levels of stress, anxiety and depression, giving you room to think more efficiently.
Walnuts are full of antioxidants which help to inhibit oxidation in the brain and body. What is more interesting about the Walnut is that it can lead to the growth of new neurons and initiate development of new brain cells which are essential for maintenance of good mental health.
3. Oily fish
It may not be news that fish is a good brain food. Oily fish such as salmon, trout and prawns contain DHA which is an Omega-3 fatty acid which helps to improve both short and long-term memory, contributing to optimum brain health.
Full of fibre and antioxidants, beans and legumes (chickpeas, lentils and kidney beans, for example) keep you fuller for longer, keeping your blood sugar stable and enabling you to burn more energy which as we know is essential for good mental health. Beans also contain thiamine, a vitamin needed for the production of acetylcholine which is the neurotransmitter essentially for memory.
