Is tomato vegetable or fruit? See the correct answer

Despite botanically being a fruit, tomato is generally eaten and prepared like a vegetable which is not always good because cooking tomato kills the antioxidant lycopene which is mainly obtained from raw tomatoes.

* According to the dictionary, a fruit is the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant and it contains seed. Also, a fruit can be eaten as food without being cooked.

See this photo of a tomato plant below, you will see that it has everything the dictionary definition above defined a fruit as:

See the photo of a tomato with a clear labelling of the ovary and other contents of the ovary below, it will be clear to you that a tomato is a fruit, not a vegetable:

Conclusively, from the definitions above of what a fruit is, a tomato is a fruit and not a vegetable. So, I advise you eat tomatoes raw since it's a fruit in order to obtain the antioxidant lycopene which helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.
