How To Cook Abak Atama Soup.

The Abak Atama soup is more popular in southern Nigerian, especially among the people of Akwa Ibom.

Abak means Banga in Akwa Ibom and the Atama is a vegetable. I will show you how to make it.

To prepare Atama soup, we need ingredients like

* Palm fruit

* Cow meat

* Smoked fish

* Stockfish

* Periwinkle

* Atama leaves

* Onions

* Grounded crayfish

* Chilli pepper, stock cube, and saltAtama leaves

Preparation

Step 1

Boil meat and stockfish together with 1 stock cube (Maggi cube) chopped onions and salt to taste. Let the meat boil until it is soft then set aside for later use. Slice the Atama leaves and set aside for later use

Step 2

Boil the palm fruit for 30 minutes then pound in a mortar to extract the oil. Pour hot water into the pounded palm fruit and strain the extract through a sieve. Put the extract in a pot and boil until it gets thick and the oil rises to the top. Add the meat stock(water used in cooking the meat) and chili pepper then leave it to boil for 7 minutes.

Step 3

Add the cooked meat, stockfish, grounded crayfish, smoked fish, periwinkle then cover and cook for 10 minutes.

Finally, add your Atama leaves, Maggi, and salt to taste. Congrats Your Atama soup is ready to be served.

Note that Atama soup is similar to Banga soup and so it can be served with Starch, Eba, or Amala whichever one you prefer.
