Your immunity to illnesses very much depend on your daily activities and even diet. This pandemic has shown us that a strong immunity is pretty important for surviving the wort case scenarios. There are some pretty basic things that you should be doing to help your immunity strengthen such as drinking a lot of water (to stay hydrated), resting and trying to control all you stress. Another important thing is marinating a good diet that enables you to do that, and even provide your body with the boost it needs to strengthen that immunity.
Here are some immune boosting foods that can keep you strong and healthy during this period:
Apart from the fact that this is a super food that have many vitamins and antioxidants, broccoli are usually readily accessible. Their goodness is best when they are consumed with minimal cooking. They are a great source for vitamins A, C (which is known to help increase white blood cells) and E too.
2. Citrus fruits
These are the most popular immune boosters because they are sweet, well mostly. Citrus fruits (such as oranges, lemons, grapefruits and tangerines) normally give us a good dose of vitamin C which helps the body become stronger.
Garlic is another superfood with healing powers that we might be underestimating. Apart from being used to make yummy dishes, garlic has been known as a food that combats infections and complications (such as high blood pressure) within us. The immune boosting powers are drawn from the allicin compounds.
Another superfood, and my favourite one so far, is ginger. This food acts well when treating infections, inflammations, nausea and has even been associated with reducing cholesterol levels.
5. Red bell pepper
This one is a treat! It has sweet undertones on the palette and it also has twice more vitamin C than most citrus fruits! Red bell peppers also have beta carotene which is really good for eyes and skin.
Plain and Greek yogurts that have “live and active cultures” are foods that have healthy bacteria in them, as well as vitamin D, which helps strengthen our immune systems.
These are rich in vitamin C, beta carotene and antioxidants! Sounds good, no? They are best consumed the same way as broccoli.
There are plenty of other superfoods that have been said to boost your immune system, like greet tea, turmeric, almonds and kiwis as these provide natural sources of vitamins and antioxidants.
