The Meaning of Food Pounded Yam 

Pounded Yam is a popular African dish similar to mashed potatoes but heavier. Pounded Yam is very smooth and tasty. It is often eaten with vegetable soup.

Pounded yam is one of the many yam recipes in Nigeria. it is very delicious and also very popular. Pounded yam is best when it is served with egusi soup or vegetable soup.


How can you make pounded yam? 


1. Peel off the back of the yams, slice to any size and start cooking with just 4 cups of water.


2. It should be soft after cooking for 15-20 minutes.


3. Pound using a mortar and pestle.

4. If the yam are too hard to pound add a little water - the water from the cooked yam.


You saying you like Pounded yam is not correct English. You can simply say "I like pound yam "

Actually you are referring to the same thing and it means same meaning, but saying "I like pound yam" is more unique than "I like pounded yam ".

When you say "pounded", you are referring to something in the past and not present. So why not say "I like pound yam".
