How to Make Milk Candy (Gullisuwa)

Gullisuwa is a popular sweet delicacy made in Northern Nigeria and is by far the easiest to make and arguably their sweetest confectionery.

The ingredients are:

Milk (powdered)




How to Make:

For every quantity of milk use one-quarter it's quantity of sugar.

First put the powder milk in a bowl, add the sugar and stir.

Now to mix, very little water is needed.

To mix, start adding a teaspoonful of water and mix.

Use a spoon while mixing to avoid sticky hands.

You can continue adding the water by drops until the milk dough looks like the one below

Now cut the dough into small pieces.

Apply some oil to the palm of your hands and roll them into balls.

Fry your milk candy over medium heat to avoid burning. Let cool before eating.
