How Do You Tell If Your Egg Is Bad? Try These 2 Easy Home Experimental Methods

The egg we eat, doesn’t have an expiry date if bought directly from the wholesaler, neither can we tell the freshness of the egg by our eyes or by smelling them. So how can we tell if our egg is still good to be eaten?

A careful study shows that eggs bought and kept in the refrigerator remains fresh and can stay fresh for additional weeks.

Here are some ways to tell if your egg is still good for consumption:

Sink or Swim Method:

The sink and swim method is one of the easiest experimental method to carry out. As few apparatus is needed to conduct this experiment. To try this experiment, fill a glass with cold water and submerge the eggs. If the egg sinks, they are still good, but if they float to the top, they shouldn’t be eaten (egg shell are semipermeable which allows air to go through them. So the older the egg, the more air enters which allows it to float).

Shaking Method:

This method is also reliable and fast, as the trick is to shake the egg close to ones’ ear, and if a liquid sound is heard, it means the egg is bad, as the sounds indicates old watery yolk.

Now you know, stay safe and keep checking your eggs. For more of these educative news, follow me and share the article to educate others.
