Heartburn occurs when stomach acid comes up your throat. It is also known as acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux.

According to WebMD, foods that can help fight heartburn include;
1. Oatmeal
It's an excellent way to begin your day. Oatmeal doesn't trigger reflux, it's filling, and it has much healthy fibre.
2. Egg whites
Egg whites are an excellent source of protein and are low in acid. Just skip the yolk, which is more likely to trigger symptoms.
3. Bread
Go for whole-grain as it will be the first ingredient on the label which is made with unprocessed grains. Other healthy-sounding bread such as wheat, whole-wheat, or 7-grain may be made with refined grains, which are stripped of natural fibre, vitamins, and other nutrients.
4. Potatoes. Other root vegetables are good for people with heartburn also, just not onions.
5. Fish
Grilled, poached, and baked fish are all excellent choices. Just don't fry it or use fatty sauces.
