Best nigerian oha soup recipe.

How to make delicious OHA SOUP.


Palm fruit.

Meat (beef, chicken etc).

Cow skin (pomo) optional.

Stock fish.

Dry fish. 

Cray fish.

Black pepper.

Achi powder from Achi seeds botanically known as Brachystegia Eurycoma.

Uziza leaf (Piper guineense).

Oha leaf. African Rosewood leaves, Pterocarpus mildraedii, botanically known as ''Pterocarpus mildraedii''.

Seasoning cube.


Ogiri. This flavoring is made of fermented oil seeds, such as sesame seeds or egusi seeds. 


Step one: Boil palm fruit till it get soft. Then extract the oil using water. make sure your sieve properly. 

Step two: Add the extracted palm fruit water/oil into a pot. Add your meat, stock fish and cowskin. Let it cook for forty minutes. There is no need for seasoning the meat separately because at the end the meat will taste like the soup.

Step three: After forty minutes, mix achi and ogiri with warm water. Make sure there are no lumps. Then add it to the boiling soup. Add dry fish, cray fish, black pepper, seasoning cubes and salt to your taste. Then let it boil and get thick to your taste.

Step four: when it's thick, add your sliced uziza leaf. Let it boil for three to four minutes. Then add oha leaf. Let it boil for three minutes. 

Your delicious oha soup is ready. Serve with any swallow of your choice.
