Steps to prepare meat pie:
Meat pie is an exotic snack that's made up of pastry and beef.
Most people see meat pie,as something thats very hard to make,but the reality is that meat pie is not as hard as it seem,cause making the meat pie crust takes just 10 minutes to put together.once your done with making the meat pie crust,then the other requirements wouldn't be a problem.
Today I will be sharing steps on how you can prepare meat pie using wheat flour.
*One and a half Cup of butter
*1/2 tablespoon of Sugar
*1/4 Tablespoon of Salt
*1/2 Tablespoon of Baking Powder
*6 Tablespoon of Water
*1/2 Tablespoon of Nutmeg
*4 Cups of Wheat flour
Ingredients for making Meat Pie Filling:
*2 Tablespoon of Olive oil
*1 medium Onion
*1 Habanero minced
*1 lb ground beef
*2 Tablespoon of Thyme
*1 Tsp Curry Powder
*1/2 tablespoon of Nutmeg
*2 Stock Cubes
*Salt To Taste
*White & Black Pepper To Taste
*Corn Starch & Water
*2 Tablespoon of Water
*Heat your oil,in a large pan,when the oil gets hot add your onions,and stir Still it's soft.
*Add the minced Habanero pepper to give it some heat and aroma then you stir-fry for a few seconds. Then add the ground beef and try to break your meat apart.
*Once your beef gets browned, add your spices and the diced potatoes,then add enough water to help cook the potatoes.
*Add your diced carrot and cook again for another 5 minutes,then add the cornstarch and water mixture to help thicken up the filling and leave to steam for about 2-3 minutes.
*Take it off the heat and let it cool down while you prepare the pastry.
How to Prepare the pastry:
*In a large bowl mix your flour, baking powder, nutmeg, salt, brown sugar, and whisk together.
*Add your butter or margarine, to the ingredients and mix your butter into the flour with your hands until it becomes crumbly.
*Add the Egg and mix it into the flour until it blends. then, begin to add your cold water little by little,using your hand to mix it together, until it completely dissolves.
*After about 20 minutes,bring out your dough from the fridge,and roll it on a well floured surface, after which you begin to cut your dough using a pie cutter or any circular object you have at home.
*Place the cutted dough on your pie cutter and fill it with two tablespoon of filling brush.
*After which brush the surface of the pie with the Egg wash and use a fork to poke a few holes on the surface of the pie.
*Place your pies in a 350°F preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes till the surface of the pie becomes gold brown.
Your pie is now ready.
Meat pie is best served while it's still hot. You can Serve as breakfast with a Cup of Tea, for brunch or evening snack with a chilled drink.
