Foods That Will Reduce Your Chances Of Suffering From Eye Problems

The eye is a very important organ in our body and is evidently the light of the body. Every human being need to take good care of his eye to ensure that he live a very happy life on earth. In many cases, the eye have been neglected either because of ignorance or jettison.

In this article, I want to highlight some foods that have scientifically been proven to be very helpful to our eyes.

1. Carrot

Carrot is commonly grown around the world and is very cheap in the Nigerian market today. It contains beta Carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. It helps to prevent age related eye problem caused by exposure to dangerous rays from sunlight.

Other foods that contain beta Carotene are sweet potatoes, brown beans, yellow corn etc.

2. Oily Fishes

Oily fishes such as tuna, mackerel, sardine are very Important to our eye, this is because they contain Omega-3 fatty acid, which is very helpful to the eye. They also help in reducing blood pressure and may help people with diabetes.

Insist on consuming fatty fishes in order to help your eye.

3. Chicken and eggs

Chicken and eggs also contain Omega-3 fatty acids. Although eggs may also has cholesterol, the Omega-3 fatty acid and the vitamin A which they contain makes boiled egg a very good food for people who wants improved eye sight. The unsaturated oil in chicken and also in eggs is very helpful for the eye.

4. Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain lycopene and beta carotene, they help the eye to fight against UV damage caused by sunshine. They are very affordable and very cheap in the Nigerian market today. Take advantage of this opportunity and take enough of it, it is very helpful for the eye.

5. Green leafy vegetables

Green leafy vegetables are good source of vitamin C, A,K and E. Examples of these green leafy vegetables are Spinach, pumpkin, green etc. Eat enough of green leafy vegetables. They help in your eye performance.

6. Nuts and legumes

Nuts contain high level of vitamin E and Omega-3 fatty acid, which helps in protecting the eye from age related damages. Both nuts and legumes are perfect for eye health.

7. Oranges

Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit and lemon are good sources of Vitamin C, which is an antioxidant that protects the eye against against age related illnesses.

8. Seeds

Seeds such as Flaxseed, chia seed and hemp seeds contain high amount of Omega-3 fatty acid and vitamin E, which is good for your eye health.

9. Sweet potatoes

Sweets potatoes contain large amounts of Beta carotene and also good sources of Vitamin E are perfect foods for the eye health.

10. Water

Most people might be surprised seeing this on the list, but water is also needed by the eye. It prevents dehydration, which may reduce the symptoms of dry eyes.
