Bread is a food widely consumed by both small children and grown-ups(Adults) all around the world.

It is made from flour and water with other additives to give it a pleasant taste and nutritional value.

If you are among those who cannot do without eating bread, you should be aware of it's health impact, whether to continue eating it or whether to look for an alternative.

Low in Essential Nutrients:

Breads are rather high in calories and carbs but low in protein, fat, fibre, vitamins and minerals.

High in Carbs Content:

White Bread

Breads are high in Carbs content. Analysis states that a single slice of White bread packs an average of 13 grams Carb.

The body breaks down Carbs into glucose, leading to an increase in blood sugar levels and hunger.

High Carb diet may also be associated with a greater risk of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome which can increase heart disease risk.

Whole Grain Bread

However, eating bread such as whole grain breads, high in fibre can slow the absorption of sugar in your blood stream to help stabilize blood sugar levels and lower the risk of heart diseases.

Therefore, when making choice of a bread, always go for the one that suits your health requirements such as low Carb, high Essential nutrients and low Gluten breads. High in fibre content.
