You Can Make Mayonnaise At Your Home With This Simple Method

Mayonnaise is an essential food ingredient. It is used in the preparation of vegetable salads, sandwiches, burgers, to mention a few. The white and creamy condiment can also be used as a bread spread. Mayonnaise is a food enhancer. Prior to its popular demand, Mayonnaise which is referred to as Salsa Mayonesa in Spain was being used as a dip. It later became an important food item used for varieties of things in some parts of the world including Nigeria.

It is common to get Mayonnaise at a nearby grocery store as it is already packaged in a sealed container with preservatives. However, in this article, we will be looking at how to make Mayonnaise at the comfort of our homes.


Eggs – 2 large ones

Lemon Juice/Vinegar- 2 teaspoons

Olive/Grapeseed Oil- 1 cup

A Pinch of Salt


1.      While breaking the eggs, separate the egg white from the yolks. You will need only the Egg yolks in this recipe. Add the lemon juice or vinegar to the egg yolks and whisk together.

2.      Combine the mixed ingredients with Olive Oil. You will have to add the Olive Oil gradually so that the mixing will be even.

3.      You will notice that while mixing, the ingredients will be thickening, you can add some water to achieve your desired texture of Mayonnaise if it is too thick. Then add a pinch of salt to taste.

4.      Your Mayonnaise is now ready for use.
