Some Nigerians don't know the benefit of most fruits they consume and what they do to their body. There are fruits that you shouldn't joke about because they help you reduce the risk of many deadly diseases and promote your health. I have put together some fruits you should consume regularly because of their importance to your health. The health benefits of six fruits are discussed below;

Figs are not commonly eaten by Nigerians and most people don't know the benefit of eating them. The plant is very rich in calcium and potassium which helps us improve bone density, it also helps in preventing diseases like osteoporosis (a disease, occurring especially in women following menopause, in which the bones become extremely porous and are subject to fracture). Your body needs potassium so to improve your bone and reduce bone turnover.

#2. Honeydew And Its Seeds

Most Nigerians, especially people living in cities where these fruits are common, should eat honeydew melon and its seeds regularly. Honeydew melon and its seeds contain vitamins such as A, B6, B12, D, E, K, niacin (B3), riboflavin (B2), thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), and choline. These vitamins help in providing your body with essential nutrients, which support your organs and keep them active. It also helps fight the diseases that may cause us certain health conditions by boost our immune system.

This plant and its seeds contain vital minerals like calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and zinc which help in bodybuilding and bone formations. Children need this fruit because it helps them to develop physically and mentally.

#3. Tiger nuts

Tiger nuts are very important for our skin because it contains Vitamin E which helps our skin to grow healthy. Vitamin E also fights free radicals, provides collagen, and repairs deeper pores in the skin damaged from sun and pollution. If you wish to have healthy skin you should eat this nut regularly. It also helps in keeping the glucose in your body in check by lowing the sugar in your body.

#4. Jackfruit 

Jack fruit is common in Nigeria but not everybody knows the importance of eating this fruit. This fruit is rich in vitamin c, potassium, dietary fiber, and other important vitamins and minerals that help in the formation of the body and keeps our body system active. Both the flesh and seeds of these fruits are edible for humans. You should consume these fruits if you want to prevent deadly diseases and other health conditions.

Note: people with diabetes should seek their doctor's advice before eating this fruits because it contains natural sugar.

#5. Dates

If you want to develop strong and healthy bones and quick coagulation of blood, you should eat dates regularly. Dates contain vital minerals like copper, selenium, and magnesium which health to keep your bones healthy and reduce the risk of deadly bone diseases. Also, this plant is rich in vitamin k which helps in blood clotting.

#6. Coconuts

Coconuts may seem common to us but it is very essential to our body. Coconut has a good impact on our body, it is rich in manganese, which supports our bones. Coconut helps in the formation of red blood cells because it is rich in vital minerals such as copper and iron. These nuts also protect your cells and help in replenishing lost cells.

It is important to know the health benefits of the foods we eat regularly because some of the foods we consume may not be healthy for the body. Eating healthy food helps boost your immune system and keeps you active.
