Before You Cook Rice Today, Try This Out

Rice is a staple dish eaten in Nigeria and all over the World. Rice is not a native to any Ethnic Group or the other, but it is commonly eaten by all. Roughly about 70% of persons in the Continent consume Rice daily. It is usually paired with Stews, Sauces, Salads, Soups, Beans or even cooked as Jollof, Fried rice, Vegetable rice, Coconut rice and so on. It is a source of Carbonhydrates and highly nutritious.

Instead of the regular Rice consumption, there is a more healthy alternative which is not just a Carbonhydrate, but a balanced diet. Don't just eat Rice all the time, eat Quinoa too.

Quinoa is a grain and a healthy substitute for Rice, Spaghetti and Pastas. It is packed with Protein (containing the essential amino acids), Vitamins, Minerals and Fibre. It comes in different colors, ranging from White to red and black. It can be made into flour, flakes and even bread.

Quinoa is very delicious, has a unique aroma when cooked, and a wonderful taste. It can be boiled just like Rice, or cooked in different ways.


How To Prepare Quinoa

Ingredients

1. 1 Cup of Quinoa - any colour of choice

2. 2 cups of water

3. Salt to taste (1/4 teaspoon per cup)

Proceedure

1. Rinse the Quinoa using a strainer, because of how tiny the seeds are. Rinse thoroughly to remove dirt.

2. Place your water in a pot, add the washed Quinoa and salt.

3. Your Quinoa is ready. It is super easy, just like Rice.

You can pair it with Stew, Sauce, vegetables or soups. You can decide to make it into a Jollof.
