Check Out This New Method of Preparing Your Gbegiri Soup (Beans Soup)

Gbegiri Soup is one of the main dishes of the Yoruba tribe usually prepared with beans which is sometimes mixed with the Ewedu soup.

There are two ways of preparing this soul, one common way is to peel the beans and boil it before beating to a paste, another method which I'm going to be explaining is peeling your beans and grinding it before boiling.

2cups of honey or brown beans

1 handful of soft stock fish

1 small dry fish (washed)

1 tablespoon of crayfish

1 or ½ table spoon of dry grounded pepper

1 tablespoon of iru (locust beans)

½ to 1 cup of Palm oil

Two leaves of bitterleaf.

Method of Preparation

1. Peel your beans and soak it.

2.After soaking it for 10 minutes, then grind it with your grinder or blender like you do when you want to make akara or moimoi.

3. Boil and season your assorted meat and stockfish. While it is boiling, blend and add the tomatoes, onions and pepper, blend the crayfish, wash the smoked fish and tear into pieces and add everything to the boiling water.

4. After every has boiled and cooked to your taste, pour the grinded beans.

5. Stir from time to time

6. Allow it to simmer for 8 minutes.

7. Stir it again.

8. Add your bitterleaf and allow it to simmer for 3minutes more.

9. Now your Gbegiri is ready for Eating.

Gbegiri is best enjoyed with Amala and tuwo shinkafa.
