I would say that roast is as an adjective and roasted only as a verb. As I mention in the title of my article, roasted is the Nigerian English speakers refer to chicken that is roasted.

Bear in mind though, it’s not incorrect to say “roasted chicken”, so if you happen to say it, don’t worry, people won’t even notice it.

Interestingly enough though, when it comes to roasted chicken, it seems that Nigerian English speakers tend to favor it alot.

A name of the dish can be referred to as either 'roast chicken' or 'roasted chicken'. There isn't much difference. It's more normal to use the 'roast' version.

For example, you might say 'For Sunday lunch, we usually have roast chicken. Roasted is a past participle, and it refers to the process of browning in the oven.

It will be right when you are giving instructions about cooking a meal, you might say, the chicken should be roasted for an hour in a hot oven.

The word Roasted chicken reminds me of places I’ve been in the past according to her.
