Easy Steps to Make a Nice Zobo Drink

Zobo drink is also known as Hibiscus Tea its a popular beverage loved by Nigerians and everyone all over the world and is often used as a medicinal tea.

It is produced from dried roselle or sorrel leaves (Hibiscus Sabdariffa). This bright red drink is loved both for every day and as a refreshment drink in parties. This drink is very tasty, refreshing, affordable and have a lot of healthy benefits.

Zobo can be used to regulate blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, inflammatory problems, calm the nerves, reduce stress, blood vessels, and also for weight loss, it can also be use improve sex drive. It is not guarded for pregnant women especially those in their first trimester which may lead to a miscarriage.

Here is the method to make a delicious Nigerian Zobo drink:

Recipe makes about 6 litres of zobo drink, depending on how concentrated you want it to be and if you will use artificial flavours, which will require more water.

You Can add artificial flavours and sweeteners such as jolly jus, nutri C and sugar if you wish to


2 (De Rica) cups of dry zobo leaves

2 tablespoons of cloves

2 stumps of ginger

Milk flavour


1 ripe pineapple


Feel free to add any sliced citrus fruits of your choice: orange, lemon, lime.

Before you start your preparation,

Rinse with water to remove dust from the zobo leaves

Grind the cloves into a powder.

Wash and peel the skin of the ginger and blend

Wash, peel and cut the pineapple into thin slices.


In a pot, add your washed zobo leaves and pour enough water to cover it totally. Add your pineapple peal,

Add the ginger add more water and keep boiling Cook on average heat and leave to boil for thirty (30) minutes by then the zobo leaves to be completely soft.

Turn off the heat and set aside to cool down completely

When cool, sieve out the zobo leaves. Then pour the juice through a sieve to remove tiny particles and leave only a smooth juice.

Add any artificial flavours of your choice, add your milk flavour at this time and stir.

Pour into bottles and refrigerate.

Serve with ice and your sliced fruits, ENJOY
