Eggs in stew. 30 easy and new ways of preparing eggs other boiling or frying.

Eggs are an essential part of proteins. You must have heard while growing up that you need just one egg for a whole week and that to much eggs is very bad for you.

Now, it has been proven that you can eat as much as three eggs stay and be good to go. This is because eggs contain the good kind of cholesterol (HDL) that or bodies need and if you are looking to add some weight, eggs should be a part of your diet.

Infact everyone should eat a lot of eggs. They are very nutritious to the body.

Nutritional value of an egg.

In an egg you get;

1. Selenium.

2. Vitamin D, B6, B12.

3. Minerals like zinc, iron and copper.

4. Egg yolks are a source of vitamin A, D, E and K and lecithin.

5. Egg yolk contains more calories and fat.

The usual way of eating eggs here in Nigeria is the usual boiled egg, fried egg with or without cut up tomatoes, scrambled eggs with or without cut up tomatoes.

Do note that melted butter oil is the best oil for frying eggs. Olive oil is also very good. The oil bought on the streets in clear nylons are unhealthy and increases the chances of heart disease as well as our cholesterol level.

In this article, I will be sharing thirty recipes for preparing eggs. Some of which you know and many of which you don't know.

Let's get into them.


Boiled eggs.

To boil an egg, get some water to a boil and then place your egg in it for any of the below time frames 

1. Five minutes boiled eggs gives very runny yolk.

2. Eight minutes boiled eggs gives a non runny yolk.

3. Ten minutes boiled eggs gives a solid, fully done yolk.

Steamed egg.

This is basically just boiled egg.

1. Place it in a steamer. The results is a yolk similar to that of a five minute egg.

Sunny side up.

1. Melt a little butter a non stick pan.

2. Break your egg directly on it.

3. Do not let the whites crisp and also do not let the yolk cook fully.

4. Sprinkle on a little bit of salt and a little bit of pepper then slide it off and your egg is ready to be eaten with toasted or normal bread.

Sunny side up fried with vegetable oil (preferably olive oil).

1. Pour a little bit of oil into your pan.

2. Break your egg directly into the pan.

3. This time, allow the sides of the egg white to crisp a little and the yolk to also cook a little.

4. Season with salt and pepper while still on the pan, then slide off.

Sunny side up basted egg fried with vegetable oil (preferably olive oil).

1. Pour a bit of oil into your pan.

2. Break your egg directly into the pan.

3. Spoon some of the hot oil on top of your frying egg i.e baste it

The results is that the yolk and whites are more cooked.

Sunny side up steamed egg (water) with vegetables oil.

1. Pour a bit of oil into your pan.

2. Break your egg directly into the pan.

3. Now pour very little of water into the pan.

4. Cover with a pot cover for about a minute. By then the top has clouded over.

5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Over easy, over medium and over hard eggs.

1. Set your cooker setting to either easy or medium or hard.

2. Coat your pan with oil.

3. Break your egg directly into the pan and leave for 2-3 minutes.

4. Season with salt.

5. When it's ready, flip the egg over so the part with the yolk is now at the bottom, then leave for less than a minute.

The results with over easy is less cooked eggs whites with runny yolk.

The results with over medium is slightly cooked for with a more cooked yolk that's a bit more thick

The results with over hard is more cooked whites with a more solid yolk like that of a boiled egg.

Cracked and scrambled eggs method 1.

1. Put your oil or butter into the pan to heat it up.

2. Crack your eggs directly on it.

3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. With a spoon, scramble the eggs over medium heat as soon as it starts to form.

5. Pour it out BEFORE you think it's ready and make sure it didn't crisp over.

6. Pour it out into a plate and your eggs are good to go.

Cracked and scrambled eggs method 2. (Low and slow).

1. Heat up some butter or oil in a pan over low heat.

2. Break your eggs into a bowl and properly beat the eggs.

3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Pour your egg mixture into the pan and then begin to stir in a circular way instead of the usual random scrambling motion. Make sure it doesn't crisp over

The results is slightly scrambled eggs with a somewhat curdy texture.

Cracked and scrambled eggs method 3 (hot and fast).

1. Heat up some butter or oil in a pan over high heat.

2. Break your eggs into a bowl and properly beat the eggs.

3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Pour into the pan of hot oil and immediately begin to scramble the eggs. Make sure it doesn't crisp at all.

The results is fully cooked and thick scrambled eggs.

Scrambled eggs with fillings.

1. Follow any of the three scrambled eggs methods but when you beat the eggs, add your cut up vegetables (onions, tomatoes, parsley etc), then scramble.

Or you can fry them (the vegetable fillings) in the pan first and then pour in your eggs and scramble.

Pickled eggs.

1. Boil some eggs (8 minutes) and put them in a jar.

2. Get a pot and pour in some distilled white vinegar, a cup of water then add some salt, sugar and four beets.

3. When it has boiled, pour the liquid into the jar and leave for 24 hours.

The results is a now purple egg colour with so much flavor thanks to the best and the other ingredients.

This is perfect for a fancy gathering or for a fun and different meal with your children.

Poached eggs.

1. Put some water on the fire and leave till it is close to boiling.

2. Break your eggs into a bowl. Do not beat it.

3. With a spoon, swirl the water around i.e move the spoon in a circular motion.

4. Quickly pour your egg in while the water is still swirling. The egg will not disperse in the water but move around and around while forming a white packet around the yolk.

5. Once you've removed it you should have something that looks like a flat, soft whole egg. Sprinkle on some salt and pepper and enjoy.

Eggs cooked in tomato sauce.

If you have leftover stew, this is perfect for you. You can still use new still to achieve this style of preparing eggs.

1. Heat up your stew.

2. While it's heating up, break your eggs into a bowl. Do not beat it.

3. With a spoon, create some space or a well in the middle of your spoon then pour in your eggs.

4. Leave it to cook but make sure the yolk is still a bit runny.

5. Season if you want but with little salt as the stew already has salt. Spoon out the eggs. You'll have a lot of stew at the side.

The results is a very well flavored slightly done egg.

Omelet without filling.

1. Heat up some butter or oil in a pan

2. Break your eggs into a bowl and thoroughly beat it. Then season it with salt.

3. Pour it into the pan. It should take up the shape of the pan.

4. Nudge it around, especially at the sides without breaking it.

5. When it's done, fold it in half.

French omelette without filling.

1. Heat up some butter or oil in a pan

2. Break your eggs into a bowl and thoroughly beat it. Then season it with salt.

3. Pour it into the pan. It should take up the shape of the pan.

4. Begin to move your spoon in a somewhat circular motion to get a curdy texture of the egg.

5. Once it forms, roll one end to the middle then roll again from there to the end.

The results is an omelette with a back that is smoother than the normal style omelette.

Souffled omelette.

1. Break your eggs and remember to separate the yolk from the white and put them into separate bowls.

2. With a hand whisker, beat the whites till it fills with air and increases in size. (It starts to look like fresh cream).

3. Whisk the egg yolks too then pour into the egg whites and whisk all together then season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Heat your butter or oil in a pan then pour your full mixture into the pan. Now cover this with a pot cover.

5. Once the bottom is well cooked and very slightly cooked, fold it in half and slip into a plate.

The results is a cake like egg that's full and delicious.

Cloud egg.

1. Break your eggs and separate the yolk from the white and put them into separate bowls.

2. Beat only the white till full and place in an oven tray.

3. Heat the oven to 350°C and put the tray in. Leave it in for 30 minutes.

4. Remove the tray then pour the unbeaten egg yolk in the middle then put back into the oven till it has that constitency of a sunny side up egg.

5. Once done, sprinkle the seasoning directly on it and enjoy.

Chinese style steamed eggs.

1. Beat some eggs thoroughly in a bowl.

2. Add some soy sauce and chicken stock to the eggs.

3. Place the bowl in a steamer to cook. Make sure to cover the bowl then the steamer.

The results is a custard like textured dish.

Frittata eggs without filling.

1. Beat some eggs into a bowl.

2. Add some salt and 2 ounces of milk.

3. Heat up some butter or oil over medium to high heat in a skillet then pour in the eggs.

4. Once it starts to set, transfer the skillet to a 350°C oven to finish the preparation. Leave in here for 15 minutes. Or let it remain in the pan and cover it up and leave to cook

You can add whatever you want to the Frittata; plantain for plantain and egg Frittata, parsley, tomatoes and frozen vegetables to garnish and for filling etc.

Egg cooked on rice.

1. Boil some rice in a small pot.

2. Once the rice is almost done (about five minutes away), break an egg over it and season the egg with salt.

3. Once all is done, place on a plate and enjoy.

Egg in chicken stock.

1. Bring some chicken broth to a simmer.

2. Beat some eggs in a bowl then pour it into the chicken broth in a round motion.

The results is a soup like broth.

Eggs through a sieve.

1. Whisk up some eggs thoroughly.

2. Heat up oil or butter.

3. Get a metal sieve and pour the eggs in through it to get a scrambled egg looking meal.

4. Once done slid into a plate, add some peas, parsely, tomatoes and enjoy.

Egg covered bread.



1. Beat some eggs and chop in a little bit of parsley and add seasoning.

2. Get some bread and cut into small squares.

3. Heat up some butter or oil and pour in the eggs. Then add the bread and stir around till the bread is coated with the eggs and starts to rise.

4. With a bowl turned over, get all the bread covered up (still on the pan), then move it around a little for more mixing.

5. Push it all together to make it somewhat round. Still holding the bowl, turn your pan upside down so the whole content is now in the bowl.

Microwaved sunny side up in bread.

1. Get a piece of bread on a plate and cut a circle in it. Cover with another piece of bread then turn to the side with the hole.

2. Break an egg into the hole and place in the oven for one minute.

3. Once done, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Egg in bread sandwich.

1. Heat a piece of bread in a pan with no oil till it browns over. (Both sides).

2. Make a round indentation with a glass cup on a fresh bread and place on the pan.

3. Still on the pan, turn to the side with the indentation, and break an egg into it.

4. While the other side browns over, the egg will cook to sunny side up consistency.

5. Place the first bread on s plate. (You can add parsley, onions, minced meat etc) then too with the bread with the egg for a sandwich.

Two color egg.

1. Break several eggs and separate the whites and yolk and whisk separately.

2. Heat up butter or oil and pour in the yolk.

3. With a spoon put in the whisked egg whites and smoothen the top. Do not allow the bottom to crisp over.

4. When it's we'll set (but not crisp) transfer to a plate and cut in half and enjoy.

The results should be a huge cake like meal with a yellow bottom and a white top.

Egg wrap.

1. Beat some eggs and pour into a pan if oil or butter.

2. Add some things meat slices, some chopped up parsley and some shredded cheese. Cover with a pot cover.

3. Cook till cheese melts. Make sure the egg doesn't crisp too much.

4. Transfer to a plate and wrap: the sides first then the top then begin to tell it all up like a thick sausage.

Egg noodles.

1. Put a noodles in a pot of water.

2. Add mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, spring onions etc.

3. Place an egg yolk on the noodles.

4. Once it starts to boil, pour in some soy sauce then stir everything around.

Your egg noodles is good to go.

Nb: Increase the egg yolk for more noodle servings.
