Everything Is Not "God forbid". Do These 5 Things To Prevent Stroke.

'God forbid' is a phrase that's always in the mouth of an average Nigerian. Yes no one wants evil to behold him or her but we have to do our part as humans to prevent the evil for God to perfect it.

Many illness and health conditions are preventable if only people stopped and listened to the right information that is given out. Its is of utmost importance to start at a young age to lead a healthy life to enjoy your old age.

Stroke happens when enough blood is not reaching the brain. Blood carries nutrients needed by the brain and if there is a shortage, the brain cells begin to die off within minutes.

Research shows that 80% of stroke is preventable with a healthy lifestyle. So what's your reason of not leading a healthy lifestyle and preventing stroke? You don't know how? Don't worry about that, read on.

After reading this article, I want you to stop saying God forbid and start doing those things that will help you prevent stroke.

1. Lower your blood pressure: blood pressure is the force with which blood is pumped through the blood vessels. Having a high blood pressure, can lead to breakage of blood vessels and low blood for to the brain. Blood pressure is a major contributor in stroke cases, keep it in check on time. A normal blood pressure should be below 120/80mmHg.

How do you achieve this?

1. Reduce salt intake in your food

2. Avoid food high in saturated fat.

3. Eat vegetables and fruits, fibres and low fat dairy product

4. Quit smoking

2. Loose weight:

Being overweight puts you at greater risk of getting stroke. It is associated with with diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes which weakens the blood vessels. Try to loose 10 pounds, eat less of caloric food and exercise regularly to reduce your weight.

3. Exercise More:

Exercising is very important in healthy living. Aside from keeping fit and loosing weight, it helps you to reduce the risk of getting high blood pressure and keep your system running. Research shows that on its own exercise helps to reduce the risk of coming down with stroke. You can do moderate exercise five days a week.

Daily exercise you should do: take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk or jog around your area, ride bicycle, play games.

4. Drink in moderation:

Properly you must have been hearing this drink with moderation every time and you are wondering what it is or is it possible? Yes it is possible to achieve if only you put your mind to it. Drinking alcohol has more risks than benefits associated with it. Drinking alcohol raises your risk of high blood pressure and stroke. Its advisable to take only a glass of alcohol daily and nothing more. Go for red wine instead of beer.

5. Quit Smoking:

Hello, are you smoking? You need to stop. You are not smoking? Then don't even start. Smoking increases the formation of clots in the blood and makes the blood thick. This can damage the blood vessels or reduce blood flow to the brain. It also increases the formation of plague in the blood vessels which obstruct blood flow to an area by making the blood vessels thinner.

Stroke is preventable if you start early to live healthy, don't wait till your old. What you do at a young age affects your body later in life.
