Why you should eat okro soup regularly

I never really used to be a big fan of eating okro soup. I felt it was a difficult soup to eat because of how you have to struggle to eat it due to its slippery nature. Same with Ogbono soup.

One day, I was searching the internet for other sources of vitamin C apart from citrus fruits (oranges, limes and lemons), and I came across okro. I was shocked because I never knew okro was a great source of vitamin C.

This made me start searching for other amazing nutrients that okro contains and I came up with so many, but to avoid a lengthy article, I will share two of the benefits I consider the best. They include:

1. It can help to lower high blood sugar level. Are you diabetic or prediabetic? If you are, you need to make okro one of your best foods. Even if you are not diabetic or prediabetic, you still need to eat okro regularly because it will help to keep your blood sugar level on a healthy level.

This is because okro reduces sugar absorption in the digestive system, thus keeping your blood sugar level normal.

Please, if you are already taking diabetes medication like Metformin, you need to be careful with eating okro as it could interfere with the effectiveness of the drug.

2. It is a very good source of vitamin C. I do not need to tell you how important vitamin C is to your body. It protects your body against sicknesses and Infections. It also equips your white blood cells to fight against infections when they come.

Okro contains lots of vitamin C, just 5 pieces of big okro contains 26% of the vitamin C your body needs daily.

This is especially good for people who have ulcer and cannot eat acidic/citrus fruits like oranges, lemon and lime.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article and learned something from it. Please, share this article so that others can learn from it too. Also, share your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
