4 Things You Should Avoid If You Have Fibroids

Fibroids are abnormal growths that occur in or on the uterus of a woman. Sometimes these tumors become enlarged and lead to serious pain in the abdominal region and heavy periods. In other cases, they show no signs or symptoms at all. The growths are typically benign, or noncancerous. The cause of fibroids is not known. But some of the factors that lead to the formation of fibroids include:

• Hormones

Estrogen and progesterone are the hormones made by the ovaries. They make the uterine lining regenerate during each menstrual cycle and may cause the growth of fibroids.

• Family history

Fibroids may run in the family. If your mother, sister, or grandmother once have a history of fibroid, you are likely to develop it also.

• Pregnancy

Pregnancy makes the production of estrogen and progesterone in your body rise. Fibroids may develop and grow quickly while you’re pregnant.

Some of the things you shouldn't do if you have fibroids include.

1. Don’t consume a diet that contains high processed foods, red meats, and high-fat dairy. Research has indicated that consuming these foods can make your fibroids to degenerate. The same is applicable for high alcohol and caffeine intake.

2. Don’t skip your workouts. A study has shown that women who engage in physical activity more often (about 7 hours per week of activities such as running, dancing, or walking) had a lesser risk of developing fibroids. Exercise can assist in keeping your blood pressure down.

3. Don’t consume excess sugar. Research has owned that consuming a high-sugar diet could be associated with a higher chance of suffering fibroids.

4 Don’t smoke. Medical professionals believe that smoking can make your period pain aggravate as the smoke from cigarettes reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches your pelvic region.
